Green River Chapel Freedom Youth
Hello! If you've found yourself in our little corner of this webpage then you might quite possibly be shopping out our children's and youth department at Green River Chapel Church. Welcome! Let me start by introducing myself and then I want to intro you to what we've got happening. My name is Mary Ann French and I am the youth and children's director at GRC. I'm a twenty something year old with a husband of 10 years and a vivacious red headed little girl nicknamed at the church and everywhere as HB. This year we welcomed HB's little sister Annalee to the world. The French family is a constant going group who loves every minute of everything they get to be a part of.
Let me explain that I never had plans to start out in youth ministry. I don't know how many youth pastors or directors will say that, but to be perfectly honest God swept me into the youth room with very little planning on my part. What I had failed to realize, at the time, was that God had it in HIS plan all the while. It has been a blessing beyond blessings which if I had to be honest, I sometimes wonder what I've done to be able to be a part of this great thing. Youth is a safe haven for a lot of teens with a lot of differing background stories. If you asked me what was so dynamically different about our room I would tell you it's the diversity. There are few who share the same stories. And it's through those stories that we have learned to cultivate what God's handed us to help glorify his name. We do a lot there with the fundamental belief that we have been called into the individual mission fields of our lives to do great things only for him. None of us, all of him. My goal in that room is for God to prepare disciples who are bold for him and who can adequately witness to those around them according to the scriptures. Everything we do is hinged on reaching those around us who need Jesus.
Our children's department is full of the most wonderful loving children's workers God could have blessed one church having. Their love for their kids is apparent and each come with an enthusiasm for Christ and for the idea that they are planting and watering the seeds of future church leadership. I could not begin to thank them enough for what they do. Sunday mornings during regular worship hour includes a full children's church ministry that includes the ages of 2 to 10. Sunday nights, beginning at 6:00, include a Bible study for 5th and 6th grades and a class based on mission work for Kindergarten to 4th grade. Wednesday night there are a variety of age appropriate classes beginning at 6:30. Something for every age during every worship hour.
Mrs. Vivian Burch has a community outreach entitled God's Angels who visit shut ins and those who are facing difficult times in their life. Perhaps you have seen them in the paper?
From our classes to Vacation Bible School to Fall Festival, GRC has a lot of amazing things going on for the children and youth of our community. It's my blessing to be a part of it and to work with some of the most amazingly devoted workers of Christ. As a church, we realize that God can use the least of us to do things for his Kingdom. Maybe you'd like to come and check us out? We'd love for you to! See you there ;)
